EMBRACING AUTUMN IN AUSTRALIA: MAKING THE MOST OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Autumn is such a stunning time of year. The weather is mild – it’s that perfect in-between state where it’s not too hot, not too cold. Just right for setting off on an adventure in the great outdoors! If you’re stuck for ideas about what to do this weekend, we’ve got your autumn activities covered.

Go for a bushwalk
Turn it into a day-long adventure by heading to an out-of-town forest or national park. Or, head to a large inner-city park to give your kids a little taste of nature. Bushwalking is such a great way to get back to nature … and get a good dose of exercise-induced endorphins while you’re at it.

Take a scenic road trip
Some towns around Australia are famous for their autumn foliage. Think Bright in Victoria, Bowral in NSW or the Blackwood River Valley in WA. Find a town not too far from home that’s renowned for its spectacular show of changing colours, and head off on a cruisy road trip. Whether you set off for the weekend or just a day, you’ll love how relaxing an autumnal drive can be.

Get out in the garden
Autumn is a great time to be in the garden. The soil is still warm from summer yet it’s not too hot out there. Encourage your little ones to get their gumboots on and help you potter in the garden – whether it’s mulching, planting bulbs in your spring flowerbed, weeding or sowing some veggies that will thrive in your temperate zone.

Plan a picnic
Gather your friends and set off for a picnic in the park. Pack a basket full of delicious snacks and throw in a Frisbee and Finska … two classic, oh-so-simple games that your family and friends will love.

Hold a scavenger hunt
Look out Sherlock Holmes, budding detectives are bursting to give you a run for your money! Kids adore a good scavenger hunt. Set one up outside so they get a good dose of exercise as they race around the backyard or local park finding clues. You won’t need to be much of a sleuth to see that they’re having fun.

Bake some tasty treats
As the weather starts to cool down outside, autumn is the perfect time to start baking again. Pull out your favourite recipe books or get some inspiration from our delicious range of recipes. We particularly love adding a pinch of spices to your autumn baked goods – whether it’s a batch of healthy muffins or perhaps an upside-down crumble cake that’s packed with flavour.

Enjoy the season!
We hope we’ve inspired you to do something fun with your family and friends this autumn. It really is a beautiful season to be out in the great outdoors!
