Our Favourite Mother’s Day Morning Rituals
The best Mother’s Day mornings begin before she even gets up. Pull back the blinds, put some soft music on in the background and take your time putting breakfast in bed together. A bowl of fresh Driscoll’s strawberries, a stack of waffles or French toast, or a yogurt bowl that looks as good as it tastes are all great options, and can get even the littlest hands involved. Don’t forget to pop a handwritten note on the tray; she’ll love it more than any card from the shops.
Once everyone’s up and moving, take the morning outside. A blanket on the grass and a basket with something delicious in it is really all you need to turn the backyard into an outdoor haven. A berry grazing board makes a beautiful centrepiece and comes together in just a few minutes; strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries with whatever you have in the fridge. Pick a few flowers from the garden, put them in a jar and let the morning look after itself.
If the weather isn’t working in your favour, keep things warm and cosy indoors. Make a pot of tea or coffee, and let mum enjoy every last drop, no interruptions or reheating later needed. Pair with our blueberry buttermilk scones and you’ve got a tea time straight from a fairytale. Pull up a chair, pour a second cup, and enjoy a special morning when nobody has anywhere else to be.
For the more creative among us, some morning pottery or painting might just be the perfect way to start the day. Berry motifs like strawberry prints, blueberry clusters, and trailing raspberry vines are having a real moment in the ceramics world right now and it’s easy to see why. Grab an air-dry clay kit or pre-fired pottery and paints from the craft shop and set up at the kitchen table together. It’s a lovely way to be creative as a family and she ends up with something handmade to keep, which is pretty hard to beat.
As the saying goes, start as you mean to continue, and with these mother’s day morning tips, you really can’t go wrong. What better way to treat one of the sweetest people in your life?
