Our story spans centuries and continents. With all of the changes the decades have brought, one thing has stayed the same- our dedication to bringing you delicious berries.
Nothing makes us happier than when we hear of friends and families sharing a delicious punnet of Driscoll’s berries. We are passionate about producing beautiful berries that bring people together to enjoy the simple things in life.
Everything we do is aligned to this passion. From our research and development of the sweetest, juiciest berry varieties, to the careful tending of our crops, and the sharing of scrumptious recipes – we live and breathe all things berry-related.
For us, growing the best strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries is so much more than just a job. Driscoll’s proudly leads the way in berry genetics and we continually improve farming practices to deliver Only the Finest Berries™.
There is so much to discover about Driscoll’s. From our 100+ year heritage to our Aussie-grown berries and network of talented, passionate farmers.
Find out moreEver since Driscoll’s first strawberry patch was planted over 100 years ago in California, the name has been synonymous with beautiful berries. In Australia, Driscoll’s partners with Costa, and in New Zealand, with The Fresh Berry Company, to bring berry magic to many people’s lives, all over the world.
Through these valued international partnerships, as well as an alliance with independent farmers all around both countries, Australians and New Zealanders can enjoy some of the best berry varieties in the world.
A lot has changed, but our dedication and passion for these delicious fruits has always stayed the same.
Joseph ‘Ed’ Reiter and Dick Driscoll grew their first Strawberries in California’s Pajaro Valley. These patented Sweet Briar strawberries gained popularity and, over the years, more berries were introduced into the farmers’ repertoire.
The Driscoll’s company was officially founded.
At this stage, brothers Robert and Terry Sheehy became the first farmers to officially grow Driscoll’s berries in Santa Maria, California. There’s something about that California sun and the sweet, fruity berries it helps to grow!
By now, we had really gained traction, and started shipping our delicious berries under that yellow label our customers have come to recognise all over the world.
We started our overseas adventure, bringing raspberries and blackberries to the European market. Blueberries followed over pretty quick, too!
We finally made the journey Down Under. Our Aussie partner, Costa, is Australia’s largest grower, packer and marketer of premium quality fresh produce. These experts grow beautiful berries in Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, and Tasmania. The berry farmers here are the perfect fit for Driscoll’s – they care just as much about the quality of berries as we do.
The Driscoll’s name was brought to New Zealand in 2016, when a partnership was formed with The Fresh Berry Company of NZ Ltd. These experts have a strong network of growers focused on quality berry production for distribution for export and the NZ domestic market. The Fresh Berry Company is aiming to continue to expand the production of delicious Driscoll’s berries in NZ through its own subsidiary, Berry Farms NZ, as well as independent farmers throughout NZ.
We introduced our new paper packaging, made with at least 94% less packaging than before! There’s a long way to go, and we want to continue to do our part to help protect the environment that enables us to grow our beautiful berries.
