After studying agriculture in South Africa, Sarah discovered her passion for berries while working on a newly built farm. That first experience sparked a career that took her across farms in South Africa and the UK for more than 15 years before moving with her family to Australia in 2018. Soon after, she joined Costa as Harvest Manager at Corindi, New South Wales — and seven years on, she’s still helping bring fresh berries to life.
Her days begin early to make the most of the cooler mornings when fruit quality is at its best. Managing the harvest means balancing people, quality, and crop volumes, with daily forecasting guiding crews to ensure only the finest berries reach customers.
For Sarah, the greatest reward is producing something that’s both healthy and delicious, knowing it’s enjoyed by people everywhere.
She also values the strong connection between the farm and the local community, from hosting school visits to supporting local events. On the sustainability front, the farm uses drip irrigation to reduce water waste, solar power to support irrigation sheds, and recycling practices across operations. A dedicated onsite team continues to explore new ways of working more responsibly.
When it comes to enjoying berries, Sarah says the simplest way is the best — freshly picked. Looking to the future, she hopes more young people will discover the opportunities agriculture offers, an industry she describes as dynamic, rewarding, and always evolving.
